Hey there, as the title suggests, it's our last match for the season, last match as a team. Although many things have happened this season, i must say that i am proud of you girls! We have indeed grown stronger as a team and showed great spirit in playing. Though many times we feel shortchanged, i believe we have no regrets. Well, i just hope that u guys give ur very best tmr and enjoy the game. Even after tmr, continue to enjoy the game and not let all the issues pertaining to luck or whatsoever bother you. We should only care about what we can control, the rest is not up to us anymore.

No shots, no goals. Never try, never know. NJC floorball!

because of our coach,
who has taught and motivated us so much,
who has painstakingly made us improve from kampong floorball to a good game of floorball,
who has yet to receive his pay for all that he has done ( so i heard ),
who has become more than a coach to some of us.

because of our teachers-in-charge,
miss wong who always there to give us precious advice on improving our play,
mr lin for his support and much appreciated presence even though some of us can't communicate properly in chinese with him,
mr khoo for being absolutely nice and encouraging and supportive,
we know we'll always have them on our side.

because of our captains ( both guy and girl ),
who are there for the team always,
who are constantly spurring us on despite setbacks,
who are giving their best for the team,
who are good leaders and friends.

because of our team,
which we have spent 6 months learning the proper game of floorball with,
which we enjoy hanging out with more than some people in our class,
which we have gone through the pain of setbacks and joy of sweet victory together,
which we love and have no regrets being part of.

because of the friendships made,
be it between guys and guys,
be it between girls and girls,
be it between guys and girls,
we're thankful for it all.

all these alone are reasons good enough to spur us on for our last match,
guys and girls alike.
no matter the score, no matter the position.
we'll just step into court and give our all,
play our best and fight our hardest.

we play not solely because of that TOP 4 position.
yes, we don't deny that we do want it.
but more importantly,
we play because we don't want to let the team down,
we play because of the team that we love.

remember all of the above,
keep them in your minds,
then you'll know what you are playing so hard for.

because, simply put,
NJfloorball is worth it : )

oh, and can i suggest that we all ( both guys and girls ) wear our team nj shirt for the prize presentation on tuesday ?
i think we'll look nice : )
all in favour, say 'aye'.
hahaha.

"No one has the divine right to win, even if he/she had trained hard and put in effort. That's life for us. As long as we tried our best and can leave the court with no regrets that is more important. Failure is not in losing a match. Failure is not willing to try, not willing to bleed, not willing to fight. I'm proud that you girls fought hard, you should hold your heads high instead of sulking. I haven't bring my pong pong and cheong into court with everyone yet. Don't die on me before that happens." -Mr Khoo

Well, i guess all i can say is tough luck. People might thnk we are just giving ourselves excuses, don't have to argue with them, just as long as you know, it is fine. This game has come to an end, we just have to move on and fight hard for the very last game. Last three periods playing as a team. NJ ALL THE WAY!!!!

Hey there girls!

i know some of you are tired of everything and mentally exhausted. But lemme just ask u guys something. Is it worth it to give it all away when we are so close to the end of season and we actually do stand a chance. Remember that opportunities are there for us to grab. If we are just going to give up now, it's just like rejecting a great offer. Some of you may not have done well for exams but well, maybe it was coz of training or sth. Since you already sacrificed that, why not just give ur best for floorball and live with one less regret. I really want u guys to keep your spirits up. If some of you are gonna give up, those who really want to fight will suffer with you. Is it fair? Let's just do this for our team mates and always remember that if u give up you are letting someone down because she has given her all but u wanna just reserve. Hope you guys just give your all and play your best!! Rest well and see you all tmr!

the worst thing to ever do is to give up or ever say that losing is okay.
saying that a loss is ok, is only when you've given your utmost best and you feel your best is still a lost no matter how you try.

njc floorball- we can't gve up. we musn't.
these losses do not signify what would be our eventual outcome and who we are, because with resilience, faith, belief and trust we can all prevail through this.
i know we can. i believe we can.
today the few of us watched "facing the giants" and if there's one thing i personally learnt: always believe, always have faith because the end has not be determined and will be decided by no one but ourselves.

the game is still in our hands, let's make it ours.

Hey there girls!!!
I agree with charleeen that you girls have indeed emerged stronger. I know many of you are disappointed but life still goes on. We need to pick ourselves up and gear up to face other challenges. Three more matches to go and i believe that we will be able to do it together as a team. It is the last few times we will ever play together and fight hard together as a team. No matter how the game goes, always remember to SMILE and PLAY YOUR GAME. The matches are not purely physical, it is a test of our mental strength as well. If we are strong-willed, nothing can stop us. We need to continue believing in ourselves. Don't think about the strength of the opponent. As long as we give our best and have no regrets, the outcome of the match would probably be unimportant. Being part of a sport CCA, is not only to be fitter or to know the game better, it is also a form of character development, we must and we will become people of greater mental strength!! So put the last 3 matches aside, the nationals has just started, let's give our all and play our hearts out coz we will probably nv play together ever again.
Rest well this weekend.
Anyway, was thinking maybe we could watch facing the giants on mon or tues. Please tell me which day you would prefer k? THANKS!!!

the NJC floorball team!
and jolly well proud of that.

hello girls!

when i look back at our team, i do not see a team who has had two defeats and one win in the tournament so far, instead i see a team who has emerged stronger, grown and learnt from every match we've played on court.

what has happened today has already happened and nothing can change that fact. we gave our best, we played our game and maybe it wasnt meant to be our win today, perhaps it wasnt our time yet. but dun be disheartened because there is still this hope, this longing in all our hearts- to win this back and to give our all for the next 3 matches.

it will be our last few times ever playing together with the same 18 people so lets just do it and not hold anything back when we face MJ/VJ/MI next 2 weeks. let nothing hold us back as we play our hearts out and most importantly do not let fear cloud our minds when we step onto the court. since we pray and have team talks before each match, promising to trust in God and our fellow liners. we have and will keep that promise.

so my dear teammates, as we pull on that jersey next wed, let's play like we've never played before-for the name on the back that reads 'TEAM NJC'. let's play with no hesitation and all the strength that we can draw from each other.

rest well this weekend and dun think so much ((:

much love!

hello! \(^0^)/

girls, if your chem spa clashes with nationals, tell me ASAP. if not you DIE!!

hahahahahahah

bingxin

Hello. My post is going to be kinda random so I’ve divided it into 4 small parts (cos my brain stopped functioning again so i cant think of alot of stuff to write for each point) :)

1. Girls, just wanna say that it’s truly amazing to see all of you not giving up, fighting back during the last 2 games. I really want to thank all of you for that (I never thanked you all after the match, but better late than never, right).

2. As what val said in her previous post, shi bai shi cheng gong zhi mu (see, my Chinese so pro). From the past few matches, learn where can you improve on, and in our next match, don’t repeat the same mistakes.

3. One very important thing, never ever ever stop believing in yourself. Just tell yourself, “No matter how many shots I’ve missed, I'm going to make the next one”.

Self-confidence as an essential quality for elite athletes to possess in order to protect against potentially debilitating thoughts and feelings experienced in competitive situations. This is because self-confidence influences the relationship between competitive anxiety intensity and symptom interpretation. In the absence of self-confidence, increases in competitive anxiety intensity were perceived as outside of the performers’ control and debilitating to performance. Under conditions of high self-confidence, increases in symptoms were reported to lead to positive perceptions of control and facilitative interpretations. To protect against debilitating interpretations of competitive anxiety, performers reported the use of cognitive confidence management strategies including mental rehearsal, thought stopping, and positive self-talk.

5. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.
-Archie Griffen, two-time Heisman winner (5ft 9)

I’ve never heard of him :/ but he must be damn good since he’s a 2-time winner and what he says is very relevant. We will show MJ/VJ/MI our desire to win.

Just go out there and do what you've got to do.

it's still anyone's game.

bingxin

For every game won, we grow a little stronger.
For every game lost, we grow a little wiser, we gain a lot more heart.
We may have lost, but put even more heart into the next game, and we will beat both our opponents and ourselves.
Because when we aren't going all the way, why go at all.

Some footballer said, "You can measure a man by the opposition it takes to discourage him."

Our opponents may be strong, but do not fear.
Because when we do, half the match is already lost.
Because our biggest challenge isn't someone else.
Its the ache in our lungs, the burning in our legs,
Its the voice inside us that yells "can't!"
ignore it. just push harder.

and we will discover that the person we thought we were is no match for the person we truly are.

It is not how fast we run, but how hard we run.
It is not how much we beat our opponents by, but how much we beat ourselves by.
It is not how good at stickwork we are, but how much heart we have.
For every game that ends, a new game begins.

Dont give up on court in a moment of fear and come out saying, "I should have played harder" because it does not warrant all the effort we have put in to get us so far, together, as a team.

Ill like to end with this quote -
"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall"

It is our time to rise, as TEAM National Junior College Floorball.

So put on our jerseys, and remember that we are representing NATIONAL Junior College.
when we cant run anymore,
draw strength from the fact that we are njc floorballers,
run for our teammates,
run for our teachers and coach,
run for NATIONAL JUNIOR COLLEGE.

-jun
wears the jersey no 2, and proud of it.

Develop success from failures.
Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.

Dale Carnegie

if there is any team which is ready to bounce back, fight with resilience and determination,
that will and must be us.
as long as we believe, have faith and peresevere- the efforts will pull us through.

keep the chins up, like coach says, the result has ended.
Let's all now just step up to the gain and bring out the aggresive nature in us.
we all know it's still anyone's game.
(:

♥, val
let's do our best and let God do the rest.

Hey girls!! Hope all of you aren't too discouraged. We still have a long way to go... so seeya all tmr at 7.30 am alrite?? Take care. Rest well. (don't need stick)

Hey there!! Tomorrow is the second match for the girls and the guys!

To the girls: the match yesterday ended long long ago.. tmr is a new beginning.. stay focused and be not afraid of anything. Go in with confidence and not complacency alright?? we can do this only if we work as ONE.

To the guys: Today's match has ended. Don't think too much about it. Do not be disheartened. Step up to your next match. Just give it your all, end it with no regrets.

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
-Isaiah 40:31

bunch of us,

huijun, bingxin, teresa and i,

were on the 72 bus home today.

and we saw this.

it reads : it is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task, which more than anything else, will affect its successful outcome.

and we think it is a sign.

it MUST be.

i mean, it's like some random sign by SBS Transit, not related to any ad at all.

and on a day like this ...

it. is. a. sign.

HOORAY to us today.

we played well, so we're happy.

let us keep this up girls : )

we must know that we're no less better than any other team.

today proved that.

we must believe that we're in fact better than any other team.

WHY ?

because we're all part of NJfloorball.

that's why.

I want to say something too! This team gave me so much!

It has been a wonderful time playing and knowing each and everyone of you! Floorball has given me the opportunity to play as a team - physically, mentally and spiritually. From tomorrow onwards, we are moving onto a new chapter as we all compete in the A division. For the girls, it will be to retain top four, while for the guys, it will the first time for us to compete in A division.

For the fowards, always have faith that your defenders that they will give you the best pass. But having faith is not enough, forwards have to make break away from the defenders marking them, looking for that small little space that will give you that extra one second to make a shot.
Double team, one-twos, option 1-2-3, reflect shots using the boards etc. etc.

For the defenders, be smart and be strong! Don't anyhow commit and pressure your opponents to make weak or blind shots. Be visionary and give our forwards the best assists! Also to block shots for our keepers even if it is a weak shot. (you never know if there is a camper right in front of the goalie)

For the goalkeepers, have faith that your defenders is going to block every single shot for you, but also to parry and dive for any shots that attempts to get pass you!

I believe that if we work as a team, we can achieve more than what we can imagine. It may not be a victory, it may be as simple as a well co-ordinated one-two play with a goal. Even if we lose, we might have discovered the true essence of teamwork. Even if we lose, we must give our opponents a hard time, so that they will sweat their ass off just for one single goal.

Many of our opponents have the impression that we are weak and slow. So from this point onwards, we have to be strong and aggresive, be smart and witty.

Shoot with Accuracy!
Speed up the Tempo!
Play with Aggression!

To the guys team: once again, I'm very sorry that I won't be playing on court with you all. I missed too many of the June trainings and I did feel lagging behind (both physical and tactical)when I rejoined the team after June Hols. Nevertheless, I will still be supporting you all from the sidelines as your match secretary, looking out for every good point and mistake so that we can play better and for every match.

NJC floorball all the way!

Cheers ic,
Jason

to me,
floorball's like almost half of everything i have in NJ.

the friendships forged,
the same passion for a sport shared,
the urge to defend floorball when the rest put us down,
the times spent with each and every one of you.

and i'd really HATE DETEST ABHOR it if floorball closes down.

sometimes i'd think,
how can the school be so evil as to let floorball close down if we don't get TOP 4 ?
will it KILL them to provide us with funding ?
it's not like they're giving us THAT much anyway.
but that's reality for us, isn't it ?

so our quest starts tomorrow.
our quest of keeping floorball alive,
our quest of playing for a team we love,
our quest of achieving the goal our hearts together yearn for.

and we will emerge from this quest as WINNERS VICTORS CONQUERERS, won't we ?
like audrey says,
as long as we set our hearts to getting what we want,
it WILL be ours.

so let us keep our captain's words in mind,
remember the team we have behind each of us,
apply everything that coach has so painstakingly taught us,
and play our hearts out for the CCA that we love and want to keep.

with all these,
we will emerge as winners.
because then, no one deserves it more than we do.
NO ONE.

helloooooooo! these are a few quotes from Muhammad Ali!! ( American boxer, olympic gold medallist, crowned "Sportsman of the Century")

"The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses—behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights."

we know how hard we have trained =)

"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth."

help our teammates, in anyway we can.

"Champions aren't made in gyms.
Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: A desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina,
they have to be a little faster,
they have to have the skill and the will.
But the will must be stronger than the skill."

in other words, play with the passion, the grit and a whole lot of HEART.

"It’s lack of faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, and I believed in myself."

i believe in myself too, and every single one of you.

muack,
jun

The answer is obvious. We play for ourselves. No one else can play for us. All we have to rely on is us. Our passion and our spirit. As long as we try our very best and face the cold outside, the glory is all ours to savour.

“But along the way you make friends. Good friends. And you help each other realize that all the things you want to be – you already are.” – anonymous.

Let's be there for one another! We will clinch it!

Love, Reethie (:

Every person in the team has a little of each and every teammate.

If everyone was individualistic, no one in the team will be strong enough, no one will be complete.

=)
jun

hello ladies! (:

here's an abridged version of our team talk the other day. i'll basically summarise the important points that were brought up, for y'all to remember and bring it to our next training and subsequent matches!

fundamentally, many said you lacked confidence and felt like giving up every time we lost the ball. many were afraid of losing the ball too. but like what chan bing said, and i quote, "we're too kan cheong! we should relax lah, brother!" REMEMBER THEY'RE JUST LIKE US. they are afraid too. never try never know! yeah so anyway, here's inspiration from the capt, (cuz i don't have all the time in the world to type out every one's comments now.lol!) in my kind of lingo, so pardon me if it doesn't sound entirely like audrey, i had to scribble damn fast when she spoke!

"forget the friendlies, forget the scorelines. it's a fresh start. what we have here is common ground. every one is as scared. we ain't lousy! we just need confidence. we always enter thinking we've lost. but it's a fair world. anything can happen. there's equal probability. fifty-fifty chance. in life, it's the same. do we take the chance or let go? will it ever come back that easily? we now have a new chance, it's yours to take. it's YOUR choice on court. we HAVE the desire, we know what's going on, but many factors are weighing us down. fifty-fifty chance, take it or leave it! if you tell yourself you can, you can. (...) give your hearts out, play the way you train and train the way you play! don't ever let it be as good as tellin your opponents i'm-letting-you-win-this-game. [and so on and so forth]"

there you have it! we KNOW for sure this race is for us to determine. we are very much in the same boat as the other players! what we fear is mirrored in the very eyes of our opponents. but if we show them we ain't afraid, if we intimidate them, if we put on a pretty damn confident front and step up to this challenge ahead of us, i don't see any way we cannot triumph against all odds! so encourage each other yeah? cuz in the words of jason lyle from "coach carter" [played by channing tatum, if y'all forgot (:] "you said we're a team. one person struggles, we all struggle. one person triumphs, we all triumph." i am awfully confident of you girls! and i want all of you to trust every last stinkin member on this team -- have faith that they WILL pass you nice balls, have faith that they WILL block shots for you, have faith that all rebounds WILL be brilliantly taken, have faith that all shots WILL be on target, have faith that you will not lose the ball, have faith that when you receive the ball, your entire line and team and coach WILL be rooting for you so control it like you've never controlled before! cuz it's only when we start to trust each other, will we begin to show chemistry within our lines and gradually our team. i'm really proud of you girls thus far! (: you've proven time and again that you are capable of performing so DO NOT LOSE STEAM! let's go out there and wreak havoc on court! cuz, uh, impossible is nothing. haha, okay okay i shall stop rambling before it starts to sound like some pastor's sermon. anyways, till our first match (second by sir's standards, lol) train hard and just enter tampines sports hall on the ninth like we have absolutely nothing to lose! have fun girls, let's do this together. N what? NJ! God bless. (:

--tiff.

oh p.s. here's the answer to "What is your deepest fear".

"our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. it is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. your playing small does not serve the world. there is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. we are all meant to shine as children do. it's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. and as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. as we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." [timo cruz, coach carter]

haha, yes, i did re-watch coach carter today.

cheers.
